us introduce ourselves
In the first place “hello” wherever you are! I am Apostolos
Koumaris and I was born and raised in Athens (Greece) but for the
last 9 years I have been living on the beautiful green island isle
of Samos, which is peaceful during the winter season and a lovely
sunny place in summer.

I
work as a custom jewellery designer who creates fine art jewellery.
For me it is a dream to make jewellery that comes true when beauty
is combined in designs created with a.o. silver, gems and gold.
For me the beauty of every piece represents life itself.

I use various techniques and most of the time from the design
straight
to precious metals. The basic metals that I use are silver and
18k gold. Sometimes I also use metals like copper and bronze in
combination with silver on geometrical shapes and contemporary
designs. About 4 years ago I got interested in a long forgotten
wax technique. I found that casting speeded things up considerably
and besides that wax is fun to work with because some very interesting
shapes and designs can be made in different ways. In the beginning
I had quite some problems with this technique but after trying
hard it went better and better.
So when I have the time I do casting work in my private studio
in Karlovasi and most of the pieces have become very special and
beautiful.
Since 2001 there is a small work-shop in Kokkari (also Samos)
where together with my friend Deni we work together during the
summer seasons and not only. She also create jewelery herself
and is considered a specialist in necklases and bracelets stone
Ladies.

During the 4 years
we have been working together she keeps on saying, that to learn
and make design jewellery is a never-ending creative process. This
is what I noticed myself for the last couple of 10 years now and
me too, I will be always keeping it in my mind in order to let my
inspiration flourish.

We
always think that our best piece is the next one, whether made by
one of us or by both of us, and we work on it until we think we
gave it the perfect balance of colour, form, shape and singularity.
Because for us joy is
not that much found in ordinary Things but in the
creation of beauty!
